Melissa Bach -Miller Makeup and Wardrobe |
![]() Melissa Bach-Miller isn’t your typical Star Wars fan. She doesn’t watch the movies everyday, she doesn’t recite the lines from the films, she couldn’t tell you what a ‘nerfherder’ is.What she appreciates most about the films is the sheer artistic talents that it took to make them. Melissa’s love for art began as a child. She began drawing at a young age and with the encouragement of her art teacher she continued developing her skills in many different mediums all throughout high school. During her high school years Melissa went to work in her aunt’s sewing and alteration shop. Working with her aunt gave her the necessary skills she needed to become a very talented seamstress. In 1992 Melissa met her future husband, Brady Miller, and the two were married in 1996. A year later Melissa gave birth to the couple’s first child. Six months before Star Wars: Episode I, The Phantom Menace was released her husband began toying with the idea of costuming as Darth Maul. After much coaxing Melissa agreed to do Brady’s make-up the first time proving her artistic talents once again. In addition to that, she also put her seamstress chops to the test by constructing her husband’s Darth Maul combat tunic. Through many research hours, and improvements Melissa has become a very talented make-up artist and a virtual expert on the look of Darth Maul. She has been her husband’s personal make-up artist for eight years. Melissa goes on to state, “With the rigors of being a wife and mother, sometimes I just don’t have the steam to do Brady’s make-up, but when he makes his appearance to a crowd, and the children don’t see him as a guy in a costume but the real Darth Maul, those little faces looking on in awe, that is what makes it all worthwhile.” “ Melissa is also a talented baker and freelances her creative talents designing and constructing unique specialty cakes for weddings, anniversaries and special occasions. Melissa wears many different hats but she thinks of herself as a mother and homemaker first and foremost. She is very devoted to her family and enjoys nurturing her children’s own artistic abilities. Melissa resides in southwest Ohio with her husband and three children.
