Sean Redfern Obi-Wan Kenobi |
![]() As the youngest member of the Masters of the Force, Sean Redfern wasn't even alive when the original Star Wars Trilogy was released. His introduction to that famous galaxy far far away came in the form of novels. From the first page he was hooked. With the release of the Special Edition Trilogy in 1997, Sean finally had his chance to see Star Wars as it was meant to be seen, on the silver screen. After that, his love of the story and characters just continued to grow. With the Special Edition Trilogy still fresh on his mind, a huge announcement came down from Lucasfilm. Three more movies were to be made! The release of The Phantom Menace marked a new era for Star Wars, and a new entry into the saga that had helped shaped so many lives. Sean however, could not embrace this new era until 2004, when he finally graduated High School. Upon graduating, Sean was introduced to the exciting world of Star Wars costuming by his sister (and fellow Masters of the Force member) Danielle. As a graduation gift, she purchased half of his first Star Wars costume, screen accurate Storm Trooper armor. From the first day he put it on, he was hooked. Even after nearly being mauled by a dog his first time wearing the costume (a humorous sight if you ask anyone else there, but not so much for him) he never looked back from that first step. He found his second home and surrogate family in the 501st Legion's Ohio Garrison, which he joined in 2004. Always being a performer growing up, helping to found Masters of the Force with his friends and family was something that just seemed right. The step from just showing up in costume for pictures to actually taking on a character and performing it was a difficult and time consuming one to take, but one that was well worth it in the end. It also makes it easier that the people he works directly with in the performance (Danielle and Rich Feezle) are his sister and brother-in-law. When Sean isn't busy portraying Obi-Wan Kenobi, he is a full time college student at Youngstown State University. He takes his time as Obi-Wan as a welcome break from his daily studies. “Never when I got into this hobby did I think it would allow me the opportunities it has in such a short time” Sean says. “Just the chance to travel with my friends and perform on stage at some very famous venues like the Kennedy Center is more than I could have ever imagined. All the time and work seams insignificant when you stand in front of all these people and put on a show you know they really enjoy. It just feels like a dream. I'm very proud to be a member of the Masters of the Force, and plan to do my best to make sure that Star Wars is Forever.” |
